The Director of Public Works therefore

has represented that it is now absolutely necessary to
make special provision for the engineering of the
urgent and important scheme for the New Water Supply
to British Kowloon.

letters Nos.84 of the 29th. January, and 123 of the 15th. February, copies of which I annex, fully explain
the position.

I submitted this matter for the
of the Public Works Committee and they
unanimously support the recommendation of the Director
of Public Works that the work should be entrusted to
Messrs. Denison, Ram and Gibbs, a local firm of
Engineers, the last named gentleman having served eleven
years in the Public Works Department and made the
original surveys for this system.
